Coloured Magic Sand
It’s so quick and Easy to Make Coloured sand. At my daughters rainbow birthday party the kids thoroughly enjoyed making a wide rage of colours in just a few minutes. I had everything ready to go so I was not running in and out of the house as this always leads to young children losing interest. We used the coloured sand to make take home magic rainbow party favours in tiny glass bottles that I picked up from the two dollar shop.
STEP 1: With small Ice Cream/yoghurt Containers, plastic pots or Zip Lock up bags divide the sand into each container/or lock up bag.
How To Make Coloured Sand
🔵Put 5 heaped spoons of slightly damp sand into your bag. (Damp sand takes on the colour better than dry sand.)
🔴Add 1 spoon of powder paint.
🔵Seal your Ziplock bag and shake like crazy to thoroughly mix the sand and the paint. The children love doing this bit!
You’ll see the sand has turned a fantastic colour.
🔵Now just leave your bag open or spread the sand out on a tray to dry for a few hours. When the sand is wet the colour may transfer to your hands.
Ideas For Using The Sand
You can make lots of different colours then grab yourself some black cardboard and PVA glue, get the kids to make some swirly designs or a happy face etc with the glue on the cardboard, then get them to put various coloured sand onto their design. Once done get the kids or maybe a adult to shake off the excess sand so that the sand only covers the design they have done. Let it dry and wella you have a beautiful creation for them to take home and stick up on their wall. They are also great for using as future birthday cards for kids birthday parties they may get invited to.
