Balloon Pinata Games/Alternative’s To The Traditional Pinata

Kids Party Games

You might be thinking of bypassing the kids party games this year, but read on I think we will have you changing your mind pretty quickly. Party games make kids birthday parties come to life! Party children anticipate the birthday games as a key part of the birthday party fun. Kids activities range from musical chairs to pass the parcel to pin the tail on the donkey – all wonderfully fun games for your children’s party. I recently went to a party at the park it was very basic which is fine but the kids were asking towards the middle of the party are we going to play any party games? The poor mum was not sure what to say other than “Um no just thought you could play in the park” The kids were disappointed. It really does not have to be anything elaborate or expensive just a couple of cheap games will keep the kids happy. Below we have some alternative ideas for the traditional expensive bash pinata.

Water Balloon Pinata

  • What You Will Need:
  • Several 25 to 30cm latex balloons
  • Strong piece of string/fishing line.
  • two trees or two posts 3 to 4 metres  apart.
  • plastic cricket bat or baseball bat or something of this nature

  • Fill each balloon with water and tye the top
  • Hang a 4-5 metre piece of very strong string from one tree to another or fence post etc whatever you have available
  • Attach each balloon to the string or fishing line.
  • You will have a rainbow garland now as well as a fun party game.
  • If you do not have suitable trees or post to hang the balloons perhaps you have a swing set or monkey bars to hang the balloons from instead, or the clothes line you might have to get creative.
  • Just like you would with a standard pinata, get the kids to all line up, get them choose a balloon and that is there balloon to pop, once they have poped their balloon then that game is over for them. If you wish it to last longer maybe allocate  2 or 3 balloons per Child.
  • TIP: This game is best played in summer or spring as the kids will get wet! If you plan to have this as one of your party games put a note on the invitation to bring your swimmers, towel or change of clothes as some of the games involve water. If your party is going to be in winter please read about our next kids party game for an alternative to a water pinta.

  • Several 25 to 30cm latex standard balloons not water balloons. We have a great selection of balloons on our Ebay party store and our personal website One Stop Kids party Shop.
  • Strong piece of string or fishing line.
two trees or two posts 3 to 4 metres  apart. A big tree branch, clothes line not all of these just one so  you can hang the balloons. Or if it is cold you can hang the balloon pinata garland up in your living room just be prepared you will need to get the vacume cleaner out.
  • plastic cricket bat or baseball bat or something of this nature, or a pin if you do not wish to for the kids to bash the pinata.
  • A bag of confetti, lollies and some kids party favours/kids party toys. Our mega party favour assortments are perfect for this.

  • Fill the balloons with the sparkly confetti, the party favour toys and some lollies as seen in the image above.
  • Hang the balloons from your chosen method.
  • Get the kids to choose a balloon and that is there balloon, they can either try and bash it till it pops open, or stick it with a pin, then the contents of that balloon belongs to them once it pops. Make sure you have some small craft bags or party bags on hand for the kids to put the contents of their balloon into.
  • Attach the filled balloons to the piece of string if you are making a balloon garland pinata, or hang a long piece of string to each balloon if you plan to hang them individually from a tree branch, play equipment, clothes line or so forth.

  • Get the kids to choose a balloon and that is there balloon, they can either try and bash it till it pops open, or stick it with a pin, then the contents of that balloon belongs to them once it pops. Make sure you have some small craft bags or party bags on hand for the kids to put the contents of their balloon into.
  • TIP: Make it really clear before the game starts that each child only gets to pop 1 balloon or how many balloons it is that you have allocated per child. Explain that once their  balloon/balloons are popped they need to collect the contents into their bag and go and sit down. Make it clear that unless it is your turn you need to stay seated and watch the child that is taking a turn. It is important to establish the rules of the game first so that every child gets to take a turn and everyone enjoys there will always be one over excited child or more that could possibly ruin it for others don’t be afraid to assert yourself.

Top 5 Boy Birthday Party Themes

Top 5 Boy Birthday Party Themes

Welcome to One Stop Kids Party Shop we are specialized Kids Party Suppliers and we have been in the kids birthday party industry for close to 5 years. It is funny but we have found that for boys and girls birthday parties each year there is a top 5 birthday party themes and most of the time the top 5 only changes by about 1 or 2 themes, depending on what is going on with Kids Movies and other trends with kids toys etc.

For 2012 we have put together our top 5 Boys Party Themes in Australia starting with Number 5. Coming in at 5th was a Rock Star/Disco Theme for boys, looks like our Aussie boys enjoy been little rocks stars and love a good dance to funky top 40 music just as much as our Aussie Girls!!

Coming in at 4th was a Cars 2 party, Cars parties are particularly popular with the under 5’s. I can see why the under 5 year old groups love a cars party with so many great new cars party products that have become available this year it makes having a Car’s party very exciting indeed.

Coming in at 3rd it is a Pirate Themed Birthday Party. Pirate Parties have been on the top 5 boys birthday list for many years in a row. It seems boys love dressing up as pirates and there are so many great pirate themed birthday party games and pirate themed party supplies available it makes putting on a pirate themed party for parents a much easier task than other possible boys birthday party themes.

Coming in at 2nd has been a lego themed party. With a huge increase in popularity of Lego City, Lego Ninjago, Lego Star Wars and lego Batman it is not surprising that a Lego Party has become such a popular choice of party theme for Aussie Boys or Aussie children.

And coming in at number 1 is a Dinosaur Themed Party. Dinosaur parties are still the most popular choice of party themes for Australian Children. It is amazing how these prehistoric creatures still capture the imagination of young children. And once again like pirate parties there are so many fantastic Dinosaur party games and Dinosaur Party Products available it makes hosting a pirate themed party a easy choice for busy Australian Parents.

My predictions for the top 5 boys birthday themes in 2013 will be Dinosaur Party Theme, Pirate Party Theme, Angry Birds Party Theme and Lego Party Theme. I would love to hear what your predictions for 2013 top 5 boys party themes??
