Kids Party Games & Party Game Ideas

“Walk the Plank”

Theme: Pirates-http://onestopkidspartyshop.com.au/?product_cat=pirate-parties

Instructions:
Divide the attending kids up into two separate teams to compete against one another. Line each team up in a straight line. The first kid in each line must race through a narrow obstacle course, marked by a single lane of 2x4s (planks of wood) laid on the ground. By balancing on the single lane of 2x4s, the kids must run as fast as they can to the end of the course, turn around, and get back to their team to tag the next kid in line. If they step off the 2x4s at any point they must go back to the beginning and start over again. The first team to get all of their pirates up and down the planks wins!

“Guess the Treasure”

Theme: Princess-http://onestopkidspartyshop.com.au/?product_cat=diva-princess-party

Instructions:
Make a colorful and bedazzled bag, called a Treasure Trove, to place a treasure/prize into. Each princess takes a turn reaching into the Treasure Trove to feel the prize with their hands. No peaking! Hints can be given by answering a single yes or no question while the princess has her hand inside the Treasure Trove. The first princess to guess what the treasure is while her hand is inside the Treasure Trove wins the prize.

“Gold Rush”

Theme: Cowboy

Instructions:
It’s every cowboy for himself in the Gold Rush! There’s a Golden Nugget hidden somewhere at the party (in the yard or in the house), but watch out for fool’s gold. Paint ten rocks gold and hide them around the party. Only one gold rock will be the Golden Nugget, marked distinctly as such. The other nine gold rocks will be fool’s gold. The kid who finds the Golden Nugget is the winner.

“The Black Knight”

Theme: King Arthur/Knights

Instructions:
With a treasure chest piñata, filled with lollies, tell the kids there is treasure to be had! Then, using a “sword” let each kid have turns swinging at the piñata until it cracks open to shower the kids with the treasure! Arrrrgh!

“Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?”

Theme: Scooby-Doo

Instructions:
Plan to have a performer dressed as Scooby-Doo at the party. The performer will have to play a round of hide and seek with the kids, only Scooby will be the one doing the finding. Each kid that Scooby discovers will then join his team, and help Scooby search for the remaining hidden kids. The last kid to be found wins a prize.

“Cars Sack-Race”

Theme: Cars

Instructions:
In your backyard, using some ropes, or even a couple of garden hoses, design a circular- or oval-shaped race course, placing as much detail as possible, adding pit stops and road cones, as well as a finish line. Each kid will have a sack to stand in and pull up to their waist. It’s a classic sack race, but this time on a racetrack! Kid’s will race two or three at a time, depending on the size of the group. The kid with the best time wins!

“Who Took The Crown?”

Theme: Princess

Instructions:
This one is perfect for princess parties. It starts with the girl who has the party. She has a princess crown. She sits with her back to the rest of the kids (either in a chair or on the ground). She sets the crown beneath her or behind her (depending on if she is in a chair). Then, the adult present silently points to one of the other children. That child quietly comes up and takes the crown and hides it behind her back. The girl in front then turns around and has to guess who took the crown. She can only ask yes and no questions, up to ten questions. If she gets it right she takes the crown back and either does it again or chooses a child to take her place.

“Dinosaur Egg Race”

Theme: Dinosaur-http://onestopkidspartyshop.com.au/page/2/?product_cat=dinosaur-party

Instructions:
Objects needed: 2 spoons, 2 raw eggs decorated, an obstacle course. Divide the kids into two teams. If there are enough kids have kids at each end to do a relay-type race. Otherwise, have all the kids line up with their teams on one end. Set up an obstacle course the kids have to walk through carrying the raw egg on the spoon. Each child has to carry the egg safely through the course. The team that has the egg intact at the end wins. Ideas for obstacles: chairs, big rocks, lawn ornaments, trees, rope, anything will work.
